Dr David Evans in a Consultant in Respiratory and General Internal Medicine at Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust. He undertakes acute/in-patient duties at Watford Hospital as well as out-patient clinics at Hemel Hempstead, St Albans and Harefield Hospitals. Private appointments are also available at Spire Harpenden and Spire Bushey Hospitals.

He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer in Respiratory Medicine at the National Heart & Lung Institute. Research interests include computational flow dynamic studies of small airways disease and meta-analyses of published evidence for airway disorders/asthma, collaborating with the Cochrane Airways Group.He has written papers within these fields as well as tuberculosis, bronchial sepsis/bronchiectasis and asthma. His research has been published in peer reviewed international journals including the New England Journal of Medicine. He has also contributed to text books within the field of Respiratory Medicine.

Dr Evans has held roles within the British Thoracic Society including membership of the BTS Professional Standards Committee, BTS Workforce Committee and latterly BTS Occupational & Environmental Disease Committee. He has a specific expertise within the field of asbestos-related disorders, work-related asthma and toxic inhalation injuries undertaking medico-legal practice.

Dr Evans has been an examiner for the Royal College of Physicians for 15 years.

Dr Evans trained at St Mary’s Hospital, London, prior to an MD thesis at the National Heart & Lung Institute. He was a Senior Registrar at Royal Brompton and St George's Hospitals. He has been a consultant physician since 1999. He worked as a consultant in Portsmouth for two years before moving back to Hertfordshire to take up his current posts.
