Regulatory information
Who we are, how our clinicians and services are regulated, and how to raise a concern.
Who publishes this website
This website is published by London & Hertfordshire Respiratory Diagnostics Ltd, which uses the name The Chest Clinic. It is registered in England and Wales, company number 11461487. Registered office: c/o Sandison Easson & Co, Rex Buildings, Alderley Road, Wilmslow SK9 1HY. Email enquiries@chest-clinic.co.uk, telephone 020 3146 1771.
The Chest Clinic is a shared name used by independent consultants. Each consultant provides their services independently, through their own practice, and is responsible for the care they provide.
Our doctors
All our doctors are registered with the General Medical Council (GMC), the regulator of doctors in the UK, and hold a licence to practise. They follow the GMC’s professional standards, including Good medical practice. You can check any doctor’s registration on the GMC register.

Hospitals and clinics
Our consultants see patients under practising privileges at independent hospitals and clinics registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC). The hospital or clinic is the CQC-registered provider of the services there; each publishes its CQC registration and rating on its own website and at cqc.org.uk.
Lung function and exercise testing
At The Clementine Churchill Hospital and One Stop Healthcare (OSD), Hemel Hempstead, lung function and cardiopulmonary exercise tests are provided by Respiratory Diagnostics Ltd (company number 15433910), a subsidiary of London & Hertfordshire Respiratory Diagnostics Ltd. It is registered with the CQC for diagnostic and screening procedures (CQC provider 1-20709565644) and has not yet been inspected or rated. Tests are carried out by respiratory physiologists to Association for Respiratory Technology and Physiology (ARTP) standards.
Tests at HCA Healthcare UK hospitals (The Wellington Hospital, The Harley Street Clinic and London Bridge Hospital) and at Cleveland Clinic London are run by those hospitals, under their own CQC registration; our consultants use them under their practising privileges.
Financial interests
Respiratory Diagnostics Ltd runs the lung function and exercise testing laboratories at The Clementine Churchill Hospital and One Stop Healthcare (OSD), Hemel Hempstead. It is owned by London & Hertfordshire Respiratory Diagnostics Ltd, whose directors are Dr Matthew Knight, Dr Rahul Mogal, Dr Andrew Barlow, Dr David Evans and Dr Abigail Jackson. Dr Jackson does not currently see private patients. These consultants therefore have a financial interest in tests carried out at those two laboratories.
Most patients have their tests at the hospital where they are seen, but you can always choose where to have them, including at laboratories that Respiratory Diagnostics Ltd does not run:
| Consultant | Where you can have lung function tests |
|---|---|
| Dr Matthew Knight | The Clementine Churchill or OSD (Respiratory Diagnostics Ltd), or an HCA Healthcare UK laboratory: The Wellington Hospital, The Harley Street Clinic or London Bridge Hospital |
| Dr Andrew Barlow | The Clementine Churchill or OSD (Respiratory Diagnostics Ltd), or an HCA Healthcare UK laboratory: The Wellington Hospital, The Harley Street Clinic or London Bridge Hospital |
| Dr Rahul Mogal | Cleveland Clinic London, or The Clementine Churchill or OSD (Respiratory Diagnostics Ltd) |
| Dr Anand Singh | The Clementine Churchill or OSD (Respiratory Diagnostics Ltd). Dr Singh is not a director and has no financial interest in Respiratory Diagnostics Ltd. |
| Dr Alessio Navarra | A choice of laboratories; details will be added when his clinic locations are confirmed. Dr Navarra is not a director and has no financial interest in Respiratory Diagnostics Ltd. |
| Dr David Evans | Dr Evans will explain the options available to you. |
Your consultant will tell you about any financial interest when recommending a test, and your choice will not affect your care. Apart from this, Dr Knight has no financial interest in the hospitals or services described on this website. Information about consultants’ fees and financial interests is also published by the Private Healthcare Information Network.
Data protection
Each consultant, or the company through which they practise, and Respiratory Diagnostics Ltd is a separate data controller registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office. Their registration numbers and privacy notices are on our privacy notices page. This website sets no cookies and uses no tracking; see website privacy and cookies.
Concerns and complaints
We want to hear if something has not gone well. Please contact us first, so we can try to put it right:
- email enquiries@chest-clinic.co.uk or call 020 3146 1771; or
- write to The Chest Clinic, c/o MedicalSec Services Ltd, 2 Henge Close, Adderbury, Banbury OX17 3GA.
Your complaint will be passed to the consultant or service concerned, who will respond to you directly.
If your concern is about care you received at a hospital or clinic, you can also use that hospital’s complaints procedure. Many independent hospitals subscribe to the Independent Sector Complaints Adjudication Service (ISCAS), which can review a complaint once the hospital’s own process is complete. If your care was funded by the NHS, you can ask the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman to review it.
You can also contact the regulators:
- the General Medical Council about a doctor’s fitness to practise;
- the Care Quality Commission to share your experience of a registered service (the CQC does not resolve individual complaints); and
- the Information Commissioner’s Office about how your personal information has been handled.
