Dr Abi Jackson has been a consultant at West Hertfordshire hospitals NHS Trust for the past 5 years. She is the Smoking Cessation Lead for the Trust during which time all 3 hospitals within the trust have become properly smoke free. She has recently been appointed to the BTS Tobacco Specialist Advisory Group.
Dr Jackson qualified from Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School in 1998. She started her Respiratory training in Sydney, Australia, undertaking a year of clinical training at Westmead hospital, and a year of research at St Vincent’s Hospital when she obtained her first publication in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine.
On her return to the UK, she moved back to London to undergo the remainder of her clinical training. She undertook further research at the Royal Brompton Hospital looking at the effects of Vitamin D on Muscle Strength in COPD, and subsequently obtained her MD.
She has been a consultant in respiratory and general medicine at WHHT since 2012. She undertakes outpatient clinics at Hemel Hempstead Hospital, as well as caring for inpatients at Watford General Hospital.
Dr Jackson manages patients with a wide variety of respiratory disease and undertakes regular outpatient clinics at Spire Harpenden hospital. Her specialist interests are in the following:
