Mr Alex Newland-Smith

Alex carries out diagnostic lung function tests for The Chest Clinic’s patients. He has worked in respiratory physiology since 2007 and was appointed Senior Clinical Physiologist in charge of Respiratory Physiology at West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust in 2017.
He trained at Luton and Dunstable University Hospital, City of Westminster College and Middlesex University, with further specialist training at the BRI in Bristol. His experience includes community COPD diagnostics in Hertfordshire.
With Dr Matthew Knight and Dr Andrew Barlow, Alex established the Watford cardiopulmonary exercise testing unit to investigate unexplained breathlessness and assess risk before surgery.
